Dr. Perez removed a Parasite alive from patient eye before any damage could be done.  Typically the parasite will go undetected until the patients eye is damaged beyond repair and the parasite is dead.  Removing it and keeping it alive enabled it to be studied for possible creation of a vaccine to prevent exposure.  Click to watch the news report on the amazing surgery.
